Book Chamber | December 20
- This event has passed.
Tuesday, December 20, 2022 — 6:30 pm
Our book choice for December is The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles, author of the best-selling A Gentleman in Moscow and Rules of Civility. It follows the travels of four teenagers in 1954, fresh out of the juvenile work farm, originally headed from Nebraska for California, but u-turning towards New York City to raid rather nerdy Wooley’s trust fund. Together with Wooley, Emmet and his little brother, Billy, follow the wild-and-bad boy Duchess. (Beware: Duchess tells part of the tale in the first person which maneuvers the reader to identify with the anti-hero, until . . . .well, read and see.) The boys meet colorful eccentrics and surprising outliers as they progress, digress, but surely move towards New York. Join the Book Chamber Tuesday, December 20 to accompany these colorful characters on their journey.
PS: As a matter of fact, one can still follow the Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental road of 1913, from New York to San Francisco. Lincoln Highway Association
