Member Spotlight: Rosalind Goddard presents “What’s on a Stamp?” | April 13

Wednesday, April 13, 2022 — 3:00 pm

Stamps of Harriet Tubman, Ida B White, Langston Hughes, and Bessie ColemanJoin Rosalind in person to learn about collecting African American Imagery on U.S. Postage Stamps

As a retired academic and public librarian, Rosalind was in a good position to continue expanding her own archive of iconic postage stamps. Her strong interest in collecting had begun in 1978 with the issuance of the first stamp in the Black Heritage Series featuring Harriet Tubman. As her collection grew, so did her knowledge and expertise of the U.S. Postal Service and its Commemorative Stamp Program, in particular its significance in promoting American and African American culture and history. Come see her displays, learn about the stamp artists and designers, the selection process and collecting, and about Rosalind’s impressive career with LA City College.
