Remembering Cicely Tyson, presented by Margaret Bush-Ware | February 8

  • This event has passed.

Monday, February 8, 2021 — 12:00 pm

Join us for Margaret’s personal remembrances of her late friend and client, Cicely Tyson, one of the most acclaimed Black actresses of her generation

In her two decades in public relations and events planning for many of the Black entertainment luminaries of the times, including Cicely Tyson, Ms. Bush-Ware has had many momentous experiences. But few rivaled the invitation to accompany Tyson on a six-week, six-country trip to the continent of Africa, serving as her publicist. U.S. Ambassadors hosted the trip where Tyson’s important film, The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, was shown. Ms. Tyson was known for her many roles portraying strong African American women. Join us in honoring her as part of our Black History Month celebration just days after her passing at age 96.

Ms. Bush-Ware’s own career has evolved from her days mingling with Hollywood’s Who’s Who. She now puts her business-savvy skills and publicity/fund-raising expertise to work as a humanitarian, passionately advocating for others. For the past 20 years she has served as the Executive Director of a shelter for homeless female veterans.
