The California Black Women’s Collective Empowerment Institute, together with The Ebell of Los Angeles, presents an educational screening of Respect My Crown: The Rise of African American Women in California Politics, a feature-length documentary film, which explores the significant contributions of African American women in leadership in the areas of politics, labor, and community activism in the State of California.
The afternoon will begin with a panel discussion with the film’s Producer, Alisa Covington and Producer/Director Pamela Bright-Moon and will be moderated by Kellie Todd Griffin, President and CEO of the CA Black Women’s Empowerment Institute, the film’s Associate Producer, followed by the screening of the film at The Wilshire Ebell Theatre.
All LA Voices events are free of charge and will include docent-led tours of The Ebell of LA’s historic campus.
