Celebrate the remarkable journey of Regina Jones, an Ebell member and trailblazing pioneer in media and the arts.
Regina co-founded SOUL Newspaper in 1966 which ran until 1982. The publication focused on covering musical genres like jazz, funk, gospel, and R&B. She played a significant role in preserving and promoting Black entertainment history through the newspaper. From there, she formed Regina Jones & Associates, focusing on entertainment publicity for major celebrities, film clients, and many others.
Regina will sit down with acclaimed journalist and author Karen Grigsby Bates for an intimate interview, featuring two clips from the recent feature film documentary Who the Hell Is Regina Jones?
Karen Grigsby Bates spent more than two decades at NPR reporting on race and identity. She is a founding member and senior correspondent for Code Switch, NPR’s award-winning podcast on race, and has earned widespread recognition for her insightful storytelling.
The afternoon will conclude with an audience Q&A and the opportunity to purchase Regina’s newly published memoir and anthology of poems and essays, Pieces of My Life. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Ebell.
Don’t miss this chance to honor Regina’s extraordinary journey and contributions!
