Celebrate the legacy of Glenda Wina, a trailblazing Ebell member whose remarkable life and career have left an indelible mark. An accomplished journalist, television anchor and producer, Glenda broke barriers as the first African American news anchorwoman at KNXT (now KCBS-TV).
Her extraordinary journey began at UCLA in a program called Crossroads Africa, which sent her to Zambia (formerly Northern Rhodesia), where she joined the nation’s fight for freedom, and became a journalist and editor. Upon returning to Los Angeles, she continued to pave the way, anchoring the news, teaching journalism at USC, and serving as Director of Communications for LA County Supervisor Yvonne Burke. She also led special projects for the County’s Office of Diplomatic Protocol.
In a heartfelt conversation with her daughter, Mpambo Wina—a talented choreographer, dancer, and head of Marlborough School's Performing Arts Department—Glenda will share her groundbreaking story.
The evening will conclude with a Q&A session, offering a chance to explore her inspiring journey and the impact she has made on future generations. Join us to honor Glenda’s incredible contributions and celebrate Mpambo’s commitment to carrying forward her mother’s trailblazing spirit.
