In the spirit of the holidays, we revisit the work of Oscar Hijuelos (Pulitzer Prize, Mambo King Sings Songs of Love), with Mr. Ives' Christmas, which explores the American Dream of the 1950s. A likable Everyman enjoys home, family, work, until... on Christmas Day he suffers undeserved, unfair calamity, which sets him on a journey into his own heart and soul. Though it is a Christmas story, Mr. Ives' Christmas shares themes with many heartwarming holiday stories as the protagonist finds redemption and love. Join Book Chamber this December as we enjoy this free-for-all book pick.
