The Ebell Institute's Third Annual Public Symposium
Thursday, March 26, 2026
9:00 AM

The Ebell of Los Angeles annual public symposium shines light on the hidden stories of Los Angeles’ remarkable women — visionaries, pioneers, artists, organizers, and changemakers whose leadership helped shape this city, yet whose contributions have too often been omitted from the historical record.

Presented by The Ebell Institute for the Study of Women’s History in Los Angeles (TEI), the symposium is rooted in a powerful conviction: representation matters. As the saying goes, “One cannot be what one cannot see.” By uncovering overlooked narratives and amplifying the voices of today’s scholars, artists, and cultural innovators, TEI is helping to redefine what we know about Los Angeles — and who we recognize as its builders.

Held in celebration of Women’s History Month, this symposium will take place on The Ebell’s historic Mid-Wilshire campus from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, featuring three panels and a keynote address. Together, these sessions will illuminate groundbreaking research, spark new dialogue, and expand public understanding of women’s enduring impact on the life and legacy of Los Angeles.

Admission is FREE. RSVP is required.
