The Ebell Institute (TEI) supports the research and dissemination of the untold stories of Los Angeles women who have played a pivotal role in shaping the city as we know it, butwhose contributions have been omitted from history books and ignored in public spheres. The institute will be a forum for amplifying women’s stories and encouraging women ofall ages to actively engage in the public, political and cultural spheres.

The Ebell of Los Angeles is accepting submissions for its Annual Symposium on March 27, 2025, focusing on the hidden histories of remarkable women in Los Angeles.

Organized by The Ebell Institute for the Study of Women’s History, the symposium seeks to highlight the contributions of visionary women often overlooked in historical narratives,emphasizing diversity, inclusivity, and intersectionality. The event will feature three panels and a keynote address, and selected participants will receive a $300 honorarium. Weencourage submissions from scholars, graduate students, and undergraduates based in the Los Angeles area, with an abstract (up to 250 words) due by February 21, 2025.
