In Memoriam

October 3, 2022

The Ebell is sad to announce the passing of Florann “Fluff” McLean on Thursday, September 29. Fluff served as Ebell President 2004-2006.  She joined the club in 1994 and served the club in many ways. Her background in finance and banking came in handy when she became president and began the practice of setting funds aside for the preservation and restoration of the Ebell campus. Fluff and her husband Sandy were enthusiastic attendees at Ebell events throughout the years. Sandy was a jolly Santa Claus at many Christmas events. Fluff and Sandy were also active members of the Wilshire Rotary Club of Los Angeles. Fluff was an active member of the Assistance League and the 9 o’clock Players. She also served as president of the Windsor Square Hancock Park Historical Society for many years as well as treasurer. Fluff now joins her husband, Sandy, who passed away almost exactly one year ago. They were dear neighbors who contributed much to our community over the 40 years they lived here.

The Ebell is sad to announce the passing of long time member Constance Crocker, mother of Carolyn Layport, who passed away, aged 98, on July 27, 2022.   Part of The Ebell Legacy Group she joined in 1957. Her volunteer services also included National Charity, League, Assistance League of Southern California, Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Costume Council of LACMA and many more.

The Ebell is sad to announce the passing of member Chrysoula Tobias, on August 21, 2022.  Her son, Keith Tobias, wrote: “She was a long-time member.  Thank you for all the pleasure [The Ebell] brought to her for so many years.”

We are sad to report the passing of member Regina Jones’ oldest child, Kenneth “Kenny” Leon Jones, Jr.  on August 30, 2022.  Regina shared that “Everyone loved Kenny. He was kind and loving throughout his life. He made and maintained hundreds of friends.” Kenny entered the world one month later than expected and left it far too soon. Regina turned a milestone 80-years-old a few weeks after Kenny’s passing, surrounded by loving family.
