Amelia Earhart Birthday Celebration with Explorer Lloyd Romeo | July 24

Has Amelia Earhart’s long-lost twin-engine Lockheed Electra plane with its innovative radio navigation system finally been discovered on the ocean floor? A team of six from the newly formed Deep Sea Vision company set out earlier this year to find evidence of what may have happened on July 2, 1937, when the world lost contact with the famous aviator and her navigator, Fred Noonan, as she set our to be the first woman to circumnavigate the globe.

Lloyd Romeo, brother of company founder Tony Romeo and Project Manager of the intrepid team, thinks the mystery may have been solved. He will discuss the grand adventure, the exploration, the new technology and what happens from here. You will learn about the submersible mapping device that they believe has pinpointed the missing plane. We will be shown an incredible collection of slides and video along with the stories as the Ebell’s own Rosa Bravo, with her expertise in aeronautic engineering, moderates this historic interview.

We are hosting this celebration on the anniversary of Amelia’s birth, July 24, when we pay homage to the legend herself. The aviation pioneer is integral to the history of The Ebell, having spoken here on what is believed to be her last public appearance prior to her fateful, history-making departure.
