OUR MISSION: The Ebell of Los Angeles (The Ebell) is an educational and philanthropic organization founded by women, for women in 1894.  Our mission is to participate in and encourage the educational, cultural, and social growth of a diverse Los Angeles community, as well as conserve and protect our historic clubhouse, grounds, collections and the Wilshire Ebell Theatre.

Current Positions Available

Content Specialist (Full time, In office)

Looking for a key player in the successful implementation of marketing and communication of our brand. They will be responsible for the creation and distribution of brand collateral (print and digital), including the creative writing required for all copy, while upholding Ebell brand standards and messaging, all under the direction of Director of Graphics. They will also oversee, develop and help create digital assets working directly with a graphic designer to be presented across various channels, including social media, to improve brand recognition and engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Management and creation of all copy for a variety of print and digital collateral, including website pages, social media, eblasts, digital and print ads for in-house print projects using best practices for such content
  • Management of editorial calendar, including the planning of content through study, research and collaboration with the design/PR team and organization members to bring ideas to life. Stay abreast of current trends and concepts; carefully review and proof materials before posting/publishing
  • Management of social media channels including content scheduling, monitoring performance using Sendible or similar and engaging and interacting with followers by replying to comments/questions
  • Assess analytics of all communications channels (email, website, social media, linkedin) for improvement and ideation of new opportunities.
  • Formulate and implement keyword strategies.
  • Design and schedule email campaigns using MailChimp and manage subscription lists

Graphics:

  • Develop engaging graphics to be used in marketing emails and social media posts for current and prospective members and followers
  • Collect and organize stock images and assets to include in email and social media graphics while complying with brand guidelines

Applicant Must Demonstrate 

  • Exceptionally strong writing abilities, including the basic understanding of brand and tone. This position will be responsible for ensuring that all copy that is distributed via content channels is consistent in voice and tone and adheres to The Ebell’s brand standards (writing samples will be required)
  • Impeccable attention to detail by creating polished first drafts that are error-free and ready for approval
  • Ability to work with multiple personalities on a variety of projects while keeping a calm and professional demeanor
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects, including as-needed projects assigned by Director of Graphics.
  • Ability to maintain ongoing communications with the PR team and positive relationships with all Ebell of Los Angeles employees and members
  • Creativity and the ability to generate out of the box marketing ideas
  • Uncompromising professionalism including confidentiality regarding membership, special events, donor and public relations information

Education and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in Graphic Design
  • A motivated self-starter who can work both on a team and independently in a high-paced, hands-on entrepreneurial environment
  • Advanced writing and editing abilities
  • Requires careful attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc.) 3+ years
  • Proficiency with HTML and CSS 2+ years
  • Experience in website updates (WP), email marketing, branding, illustration, printing, photography, video and current social media 3+ years
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Basic experience with web publishing platforms that include e-commerce (e.g. WordPress and Gravity Forms and WooCommerce), and email platforms (e.g. Mailchimp) or a willingness to learn
  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, graphic design or equivalent

Ebell Banquet  Server – Special Events Department (Full Time)

This position is responsible for effectively assisting food and beverage services and aiding in the overall logistics of the banquet events by way of set-up, clear communication/ teamwork, while maintaining the company’s standard for excellence.

Qualifications: (Flexible & Adjustable Schedule) The successful candidate will be proactive, practice reliability, accountability, be customer focused, detail and solution oriented while striving to provide exceptional customer service.

  • Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures. • Maintain sense of urgency when on the service floor.
  • Lift and carry banquet serving trays which can weigh up to 25 lbs
  • Serve guests in a variety of settings including crowded areas which require agility / accommodating to all guests while circulating the room.
  • Anticipating the needs of the guests and responding politely to their requests.
  • Responsibilities: includes but are not limited to:
  • Maintain a professional appearance and mannerism.
  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of tables, linens, chairs, etc., for full service of banquet events.
  • Polish flatware and glassware to remove all visible water spots and ensure cleanliness.
  • Provide excellent food and beverage service for banquet/special events.
  • Maintain (BOH) back of the house, (FOH)front of the house and side work duties for overall productivity of banquet events.
  • Maintain positive and professional attitude.
  • Complete other assigned duties
  • Maintain clear and open communication between all staff members for overall event success.
  • Seek counsel from management when needed.
