Stage Supervisor

One of the oldest live performance venues in Los Angeles, the Wilshire Ebell Theatre has a proud history of welcoming artists from around the world for nearly 100 years. The theatre is part of The Ebell of Los Angeles, an educational and philanthropic organization founded by women, for women in 1894, with a mission to participate in and encourage the educational, cultural and social growth of the diverse Los Angeles community. The Wilshire Ebell Theatre is an integral part of that mission.

The Wilshire Ebell Theatre is looking for a Stage Supervisor. Responsibilities include the following:


  • Maintains and coordinates stage space and usage:

– inspects stage environment to ensure proper operation and function of all equipment;
– prepares stage and equipment in compliance with contract specifications;
– coordinates, assists, and monitors events and crews during set-up, production, and break down
– to ensure smooth operations and technical success;
– serves as a liaison between clients and production crews during events;
– provides information, answers questions, and solves problems;
– ensures compliance with terms of contract and safety of crew and stage.


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a live performance theatre setting.
  • Strong foundation with the principles and practices of stage management, theatrical audio, lighting, and video.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize workload effectively.
  • Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional integrity required, as validated by references.
  • Able to work overtime as needed, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Ebell of Los Angeles.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hand to finger, hear and talk.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
