Archivist/Collections Manager
The Ebell of Los Angeles seeks a motivated, collaborative, and knowledgeable archivist/collections manager to develop strategies and procedures, and to organize and catalog items, materials and artifacts related to the history of The Ebell and of women in Los Angeles. With the goal of promoting collection discovery, access, preservation, and use, the archivist will apply professional standards and best practices to arrange, re-house, and describe mixed-format collections including the archives of members, artists, curators, collectors, and supporters. The archivist will participate in activities related to scholarly research, outreach, and collection management related to special collections.
Reporting to Executive Director the archivist will work closely with Ebell Committee members and board leaders, as well as colleagues throughout the organization to champion Ebell member engagement with the archives and collections, as well as engage with the archival profession and LA scholars. This position may supervise interns, student workers and project staff.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work under little to no supervision on assigned projects to improve access to archives and other special collections
- Survey collections and develop and implement processing plans
- Arrange, process, and re-house collection materials
- Create and enhance finding aids and bibliographic records based on current standards, best practices, research, and evaluation
- Identify conservation concerns and perform basic preservation practices
- Maintain knowledge in standards, systems and specialized subjects
- Assist in ongoing development, refinement and documentation of processes and procedures
- Maintain processing metrics and project documentation
- May manage or participate in group processing projects
- May train and supervise others and revise the work of others
- May answer reference questions
- May research, write, present, and publish about collections and work activities
- May contribute to outreach activities
- Undertake special projects as assigned
Applicant Must Demonstrate
- Exceptionally strong writing abilities, including the basic understanding of brand and tone. This position will be responsible for ensuring that all copy that is distributed via content channels is consistent in voice and tone and adheres to The Ebell’s brand standards (writing samples will be required)
- Impeccable attention to detail by creating polished first drafts that are error-free and ready for approval
- Ability to work with multiple personalities on a variety of projects while keeping a calm and professional demeanor
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects, including as-needed projects assigned by Director of Graphics.
- Ability to maintain ongoing communications with the PR team and positive relationships with all Ebell of Los Angeles employees and members
- Creativity and the ability to generate out of the box marketing ideas
- Uncompromising professionalism including confidentiality regarding membership, special events, donor and public relations information
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in appropriate discipline
- Related professional experience: minimum 2 to 5 years
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Demonstrated subject knowledge in historical documents and art history. Knowledge of costume collections desired but not required.
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to work both under little to no supervision and in partnership in team-based environments

Junior to Mid Level Graphic Designer (full-time, onsite)
The Graphic Designer will develop and create digital assets to be presented across social media outlets to improve brand recognition and engagement. Will assist on creative internal branding projects (print and digital) while upholding Ebell brand standards and messaging, all under the direction of Director of Graphics as well as collaborating with the Content Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Create relevant graphic design content for our social media and for in-house print projects using best practices for such content
- Plan content through study, research and collaboration with the design/PR team and Club members to bring ideas to life. Stay abreast of current trends and concepts; carefully review and proof materials before posting/publishing
- Design and schedule email campaigns using MailChimp; manage subscription lists
- Assist with creative projects as needed
- Assist the Board of Directors and members with on-going activities and events to promote and support The Ebell of Los Angeles’s mission.
- Ability to work with multiple personalities on a variety of projects while keeping a calm and professional demeanor

Education and Requirements
- 3+ years of design experience with a brand. Nonprofit and membership environment is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in Graphic Design or Visual Communications.
- Proficiencies across Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Premiere, and Lightroom.
- Experience in email marketing, branding, illustration, printing, photography, video and current social media 3+ years
- SEO experience is a plus
- Proficiency with HTML and CSS along with WP platform
- A keen understanding of layout and visual hierarchy
- A motivated self-starter who can work both on a team and independently.
- Creative team player who pays great attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Experience with email platforms (e.g. Mailchimp) or a willingness to learn

Ebell Banquet Server – Special Events Department (Full Time)
This position is responsible for effectively assisting food and beverage services and aiding in the overall logistics of the banquet events by way of set-up, clear communication/ teamwork, while maintaining the company’s standard for excellence.

- Maintain (BOH) back of the house, (FOH)front of the house and side work duties for overall productivity of banquet events.
