Field Trip: A Day at the Museum for Members | October 14

  • This event has passed.

Thursday, October 14, 2021 — 1:00 pm

Join our Field Trip to the California African American Museum

Let’s enjoy the current exhibits at CAAM in Exposition Park as a group! It’s always more fun to share the excitement.

What we’ll see.
We’ll view the Sanford Biggers: Codeswitch exhibition of quilt-based works deeply informed by African American history and traditions. One of the quilts in the exhibition is on loan from one of our Ebell members! We will also visit April Bey’s installation that taps into Black American’s embrace of space travel and extraterrestrial visioning, or Afrofuturism. These plus several other featured installations in the CAAM galleries promise a delightful afternoon.

If you want more.
Those wishing to extend the visit are welcome to stroll across the park to the Science Center for viewing exhibits or dining in their Food Court. The Science Center is open — no reservations are required. (Admission to the Science Center is $3.00 that you will pay directly once there.) Or you may wish to enjoy the historic park and stroll its magnificent Rose Garden, fountain and grounds.

Where we’ll meet.
We will rendezvous at 1:00 pm at the entrance to CAAM. Parking in the Exposition Park lot is $15.00 per car per day, not included. Carpools will be arranged upon request, with an Ebell waiver signature. Masks are required for entry to the museums.
