Monday Lunch: The Hidden History of LA Homes

A Home Historian Unearths Stories from LA’s Past

Author and architectural historian David Silverman writes custom-made books about the history of Los Angeles homes, commissioned exclusively for homeowners. Many of his works have chronicled the houses of classic Hollywood icons, such as Shirley Temple, David O. Selznick, Cecil B. DeMille, Marlene Dietrich, and Frank Sinatra.

David, whose company LA House Histories was recently featured in the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times, will speak about many of the houses he has researched, showing rare photos of the homes, their residents, and historic LA. There are several connections with the Ebell: past Club members have lived in some of the houses he has written about, and the Club’s original architect (Sumner Hunt) and landscape designer (Florence Yoch) designed some of the houses.
