- This event has passed.
Thursday, October 6, 2022 — 11:30 am
Please join us in welcoming the renowned New York Times best-selling author and Angeleno, Lisa See.
Her beloved books, including The Island of Sea Women, Shanghai Girls and Peony in Love, brilliantly illuminate the strong bonds between women and are celebrated for their lyrical stories about Chinese characters and culture. She also sits on the boards of Los Angeles Opera, National Historic Preservation Trust, and The Music Center, and is a member of The Trusteeship, an organization comprised of preeminent women of achievement and influence in diverse fields.
Our Opening Day program will also feature musical excerpts from the opera On Gold Mountain, composed by Nathan Wang and based on Ms. See’s first book and libretto. Ms. Iva Lohmann made her LA Opera debut as Ticie in On Gold Mountain in 2022.
Come and meet Ms. See who will share insights into her life, her writing process, and the importance of women in her stories.
Members are encouraged to invite friends and family.
