Panelists

Let’s come together to harness the power of data to encourage more diverse and dynamic portrayals of women in STEM  (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and motivate more girls to pursue these careers.

The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media invites Ebell members to the debut of findings from its latest report: “Portray Her 2.0: An Analysis of 15 Years of Women in STEM On-Screen, 2007–2022.”  The original study, “Portray Her: Representations of Women STEM Characters in Media,” revealed a stark underrepresentation of women in STEM roles – men outnumbered women approximately 2 to 1. Most notably, the majority of female STEM characters were confined to the life sciences, predominantly in the medical field.  This new study looks at the representation of women in STEM in film and TV, with updated findings from the last 5 years (2018-2022).
