Writers Bloc with Matt Gutman and Mayim Bialik | September 12

  • This event has passed.

Tuesday, September 12, 2023 — 7:30 pm

Imagine being the chief national correspondent for one of the major networks in the country. Imagine what far flung international posts you covered in paying your dues. Then imagine suffering frequent and severe panic attacks as you cover the news. Imagine covering sniper fire, or innumerable natural disasters, or captivity by hostile secret police in South America– all while trying to conceal a malady that plagues millions of people each year.

Matt Gutman, ABC News‘ chief national correspondent, has seen it all– and masked his ongoing panic issues throughout his ordeals. Gutman’s book, No Time to Panic, is his search for a cure to his destabilizing anxiety. Gutman is a journalist, and dives head first into scientific cures as well as very unscientific pop cures, and he is a masterful storyteller as the reader cringes, laughs, or nods in response. No Time to Panic is an immensely gripping book that is not only deeply personal, but so engaging, and fabulously entertaining.

In conversation with author/neuroscientist/actor/producer Mayim Bialik. Talk about a brilliant multi-hyphenate. Mayim Bialik’s acclaimed and enormously popular podcast, Breakdown, covers a range of mental health issues, based on her background and interest in neuroscience. The podcast is notable for her guest list which includes a wide array of scientists, intellectuals, and celebrities. She is also an award winning actor, having appeared in countless television series and game shows. Her role in The Big Bang Theory made her a household name, and her co-hosting duties of Jeopardy! earned her millions more admirers. She is a New York Times bestselling author for teens, and in her spare time wrote and directed a feature film, As They Made Us.

All books must be picked up at the event.  Books will not be held or mailed.
