On Sunday, February 27, in the President’s Tea Room, as part of the Black History Month celebrations, The Ebell hosted a Black History Recital from African Americans for Los Angeles Opera (AALAO), featuring Ken Simms, baritone, Shana Blake Hill, soprano, and Christopher Luthi, pianist.
AALAO is comprised of individuals who are dedicated to increase the awareness of opera throughout the Los Angeles community. AALAO board directors include Ebell members Beverley Clarkson (President), Beverly Johnson (past Co-Chair), Jacque Lyne Wallace (past Co-Chair) and Barbara Lake, who gave the closing remarks.
The fabulous performance was followed by a magnificent potluck supper, brought by AALAO members.
