Executive Director’s Message

from Stacy Brightman, Executive Director of The Ebell

January 12, 2022

Hello friends,

First and foremost, I send you and all your families my warmest wishes for a healthy and inspiring 2022. As I write this, many of our Ebell friends and family are grappling with breakthrough cases of COVID. I am grateful that most of us have had our vaccinations and our boosters to help protect us from this terrible illness. Here on campus, we have updated our Health and Safety protocols to be aligned with the most current CDC and County recommendations. All guests and staff are required to wear KN95 masks on campus (rather than lesser grade masks) which we are able to provide.  Moreover, all staff are not only vaccinated but are required to be boosted by January 17.  For the time being, we are requiring all staff on campus to have a weekly PCR test for screening purposes, and our events team is also taking rapid antigen tests immediately before welcoming guests to any private event. We are doing everything possible to keep our beloved Ebell of LA open and to continue serving our members and the public. Indeed, under the category of “we will find a way or make one” we are very grateful that we have been able to assist our community by hosting pop-up PCR testing in our parking lots last week and this. In the week before Christmas, we also hosted a drive-through toy and gift distribution for veterans and their family in partnership with The Mindful Veteran Project.  Who knew our parking lots could help save the day?

While some in-person events and field trips have been necessarily postponed out of an abundance of caution, we still have many wonderful gatherings, programs and projects coming up soon. I am particularly excited to share some of the developments in regard to Community Partnerships, and updates on our exciting Preservation Master Plan process at our upcoming semi-annual Members’ Business Meeting on January 24, 2022 at 4 pm via zoom.  I hope you will be able to join us and listen in, and feel inspired and rejuvenated by all the remarkable news our generous members, and their love for this organization’s mission and campus, is making possible.

With gratitude for this opportunity to serve,

Stacy
