Projects developed by board member, Director of House and Grounds Christy McAvoy as part of the firm Historic Resources Group (HRG) received an LA Conservancy Award, on October 13 2022.

Since 1982, the Conservancy, whose Executive Director Linda Dishman is also an Ebell member, has recognized some of Los Angeles County’s most remarkable historic preservation projects at their annual Preservation Awards celebration, held at the LA Coliseum, a National Historic Landmark and one in which Christy’s company, HRG, supervised the repairs after the Northridge Earthquake.  The award also acknowledged her work on the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and the Herald Examiner.

The 2022 winning projects celebrate everything that makes Los Angeles such an incredibly diverse, culturally significant city. From creative affordable housing solutions to the adaptive reuse of neglected historic buildings, the projects demonstrate how historic preservation in Los Angeles is strongly future focused. Preservation Award recipients were selected by an independent jury of leading experts in the fields of architecture, historic preservation, and community development.

Christy was keen to acknowledge that her award was the result of many years of team collaboration. “These projects take years, some even decades, to come to completion, so a couple of the projects began when I was still head of HRG and was able to be involved in the ultimate saving and reuse of these important buildings.  These things are team efforts.  HRG continues to play a role in saving buildings in LA, and it is wonderful to celebrate its achievements and recall the unique stories of their creation and continued use.”
